I would like to take a moment to commend my colleague Representative Rubel for her hard work and dedication to reforming mandatory minimums in Idaho. When passed by the House, this bill would mend the minimum sentencing laws currently in place for those charged with possession or trafficking of controlled substances. This much needed change would return discretion to judges who should be able to rule based on the facts of the case rather than a predetermined statute.
